Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Dermaplaning Facial.

Most Dermaplaning Facials at Bloom Salon & Med Spa take about 45 to 60 minutes, including consultation, cleansing, the dermaplaning procedure, nourishing mask, and finishing serums. Timing can vary based on add-ons or skin preparation needs.

Dermaplaning can be safe for many with sensitive or acne-prone skin when performed by our experienced clinicians. We avoid treating active inflammatory or cystic acne. A consult or patch test helps determine suitability and any precautions before treatment.

You’ll notice immediate smoothness and a brighter complexion right after your session. Improvements in texture and makeup application are instant; peak results and renewed radiance typically last several weeks, with optimal maintenance scheduled every four to six weeks.

Dermaplaning removes fine vellus hair and surface dead cells but does not reach deep hair follicles. It won’t cause thicker hair growth or permanent hair removal; results are cosmetic and temporary, requiring regular treatments to maintain smoothness.

Common side effects include mild redness or slight sensitivity lasting a day or two. Avoid exfoliating products, retinoids, and direct sun exposure immediately after treatment. Use gentle skincare, hydration, and SPF to protect results and skin barrier.

For most clients we recommend dermaplaning every four to six weeks to maintain smooth skin and glow. Frequency can be adjusted based on hair regrowth, skin sensitivity, or combined treatments; your clinician will create a personalized schedule.
