After RF Microneedling: What to Do in the First 7 Days
By Bloom Salon & Med Spa | October 16, 2026
We keep aftercare simple: for the first 48 hours, protect your skin like it’s “fresh” by keeping it clean, cool, and out of the sun. A lot of our patients come in nervous about discomfort, then tell us it was “a little discomfort but no pain.” Aftercare is how we keep that calm, predictable recovery going in Las Vegas.
Quick reality check: redness and mild swelling are common right after microneedling. In our dry, sunny Las Vegas climate, hydration and strict sunscreen matter year-round if you want your results to look their best.
First 24–48 hours: the “clean, cool, hands off” rules
RF microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries so your skin can rebuild collagen. That’s great for firming, wrinkles, and texture, but it also means the surface is temporarily more reactive. For the first two days, our goal is to reduce irritation and lower the risk of introducing bacteria.
Do this
- Cool compresses if you feel warm or puffy. Keep it gentle, short, and clean.
- Cleanse gently with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat dry. Don’t rub.
- Use a simple hydrating layer that we recommend or that you already know you tolerate well (think soothing, fragrance-free, non-active).
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase and keep your phone screen off your cheek.
Skip this
- Makeup for at least 24–72 hours. If you have an event, talk to us first so we can guide timing.
- Heat and heavy sweating for 48–72 hours, including intense workouts, saunas, steam rooms, and hot yoga.
- Pools and hot tubs for 48–72 hours to lower infection risk.
- Touching, picking, or “checking” your skin in the mirror all day. Hands carry bacteria and picking can leave marks.
If you’re a hospitality shift worker or you commute across town, plan your first day like you’d plan a quiet recovery evening. Keep a hat in the car, keep your water bottle close, and avoid that “just a quick stop in the sun” moment. Las Vegas sun is no joke.
Days 3–7: when you feel better, but your skin is still rebuilding
Most people start to look more “normal” by day 2 or 3. That’s the tricky part. The surface calms down, but collagen remodeling is still happening, and irritation can set you back. We’ve had long-time clients tell us microneedling with RF “tremendously helped with scarring” and helped them feel more confident in their skin, but the week after treatment matters as much as the appointment itself.
Sun rules (especially in Southwest Las Vegas)
We want broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every single morning, and we want you avoiding direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks. If you golf on the weekends, plan early tee times, keep your face covered, and reapply. Sun plus freshly treated skin is a fast way to trigger more redness and uneven pigment.
Product rules (don’t restart actives too early)
Hold off on common irritants for 5–7 days: retinoids, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, strong vitamin C, exfoliating scrubs, and at-home devices. If you feel stingy or tight when you apply something, stop. Stick with calm hydration until you’re fully settled.
Activity rules (workouts, heat, and “just one hot shower”)
Light movement is fine once you’re past the first 48 hours and your redness is down, but heavy sweating tends to irritate. Give it 48–72 hours before you return to intense workouts. Keep showers warm, not hot, and skip anything that makes your face flush for the first week when possible.
A simple RF microneedling routine that protects a $550 result
You do not need a complicated routine right now. Simple usually wins. Here’s what we generally like in the first week after RF microneedling.
- Cleanser: gentle, fragrance-free, no exfoliating beads.
- Moisture: a soothing moisturizer or ointment-style hydrator that doesn’t sting when applied.
- SPF: broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning, and reapply if you’re outside.
- Hydration habits: drink water consistently and consider a humidifier at night if you wake up dry. Las Vegas air pulls moisture fast.
If you already use medical-grade skincare, we’ll tell you exactly when to restart it. And if you need to pick up a recommended hydrator or SPF, we’re easy to reach along the Blue Diamond Road corridor, including quick stop-ins on the way to I-215.
When to reach out to our team (and when it’s just normal healing)
A little warmth, redness, and mild swelling are common right after microneedling. Dryness and a slightly rough texture can also show up as your skin recovers. But we never want you guessing if something feels off.
Usually normal
- Pinkness or mild redness for 1–3 days
- Minor swelling or tightness
- Dryness or flaking as the week goes on
Call us soon
- Increasing pain (not just tenderness)
- Spreading redness, especially if it feels hot
- Fever, pus, or drainage
- Unusual swelling that keeps worsening
We’re known for keeping people calm and informed, even when they walk in nervous. One long-time client put it plainly: “You are in great hands!” If you want a quick post-treatment check, we serve Enterprise, Spring Valley, Paradise, Rhodes Ranch, Southern Highlands, and Henderson, so it’s easy to pop in without making it a whole day.
If you’re still planning your first appointment, these pages help you feel prepared: preparing for your first RF microneedling, what to expect from your first RF microneedling, and RF microneedling benefits for skin firming.
