PRP / PRF Microneedling Aftercare: Day-by-Day First Week
By Bloom Salon & Med Spa | September 11, 2026
Serving Southwest Las Vegas and the Blue Diamond Road corridor, including Enterprise, Spring Valley, Paradise, Rhodes Ranch, Southern Highlands, and Henderson.
The most important rule after microneedling with PRP or PRF is simple: treat your skin like it’s open and vulnerable for the first few days. Keep it clean, keep it hydrated, and don’t add heat, sweat, sun, or makeup too soon. We see a lot of nervous first-timers in Las Vegas, and we get it. One of our clients put it best: they were “so scared the first time, ” but felt comfortable with our team and were glad they did it.
Hours 0 to 48: keep it clean, skip makeup, avoid heat
Right after PRP / PRF microneedling, your skin usually looks pink to red and can feel warm, tight, or a little sandpapery. Some pinpoint bleeding can happen the day of. That’s normal for many people. What we do in these first two days makes a big difference in how calm your skin stays.
Our go-to first 48 hours rule: gentle cleanse only, no makeup, and no sweaty workouts. In Las Vegas heat and dry desert air, pushing activity too fast often means more redness and more irritation.
What we generally recommend you do
- Hands off. Don’t rub, scratch, or pick. If something flakes later in the week, we’ll let it shed on its own.
- Gentle cleanse. Use only a mild, non-irritating cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat dry.
- Hydrate and protect the barrier. Stick to a bland moisturizer or barrier ointment we okayed for you.
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase. Simple, but it matters when your skin is extra reactive.
What to avoid in the first two days
- Makeup. We know it’s tempting, especially if you’re heading to work, but it’s one of the quickest ways to clog and irritate freshly treated skin.
- Hot showers, steam, saunas. Heat can prolong redness and swelling.
- Heavy exercise. Sweat and heat are not your friend right now. If you’re on hospitality shifts, plan for calmer activity and a cool environment when you can.
- Direct sun. Las Vegas UV is intense. If you have to be outside, keep exposure minimal and use physical barriers like a hat until we tell you sunscreen is safe to restart.
Days 3 to 7: the “don’t mess with a good result” week
By day 3, most people are moving from obvious redness into dryness and light flaking. That’s when people get impatient and start throwing active products at it. Don’t. Our long-time regulars who get consistent results tend to follow the boring rules and let the skin settle.
Keep doing this
- Stay gentle with cleansing. Pat dry. No scrubs, no cleansing brushes.
- Moisturize often enough that you don’t feel tight and shiny-dry. Desert air can make that tight feeling show up fast.
- If we’ve cleared you to restart sunscreen, use a broad-spectrum SPF and reapply when you’re outside. Sun is a big reason people feel like they “did the treatment but didn’t see much.”
Avoid these common mistakes
- No pools, hot tubs, or lakes for 48 to 72 hours at minimum. Many people do better waiting longer if they’re still red or flaky.
- Skip saunas and vigorous workouts for 48 to 72 hours. If you run hot easily or your shifts keep you moving, give yourself the full window.
- Hold retinoids, AHA/BHA acids, strong vitamin C, and exfoliants for 7 to 14 days unless we tell you otherwise. This is a big one.
- Don’t pick. Flaking is part of the process. Picking is how you end up with prolonged redness and uneven healing.
If you’re a golfer or you’re out at parks in Enterprise or Henderson, plan to sit this one out for a few days. That sun plus sweat combo is the easiest way to undo the calm, even finish we’re going for.
Simple products that protect PRP / PRF microneedling results
PRP / PRF microneedling is about skin rejuvenation and supporting collagen production. Aftercare is how we protect the work we just did. We keep your routine simple on purpose.
Cleanser: mild, fragrance-free, no exfoliating acids.
Moisturizer: bland, hydrating, focused on barrier support.
Barrier ointment (if we recommended it): thin layer where you feel extra dry or tight.
If you use prescription topicals or you’re not sure when to restart your normal actives, ask us. We’d rather answer a quick question than have you guess and end up inflamed for a week.
What’s normal vs. when we want you to call us
A big part of our job is keeping you comfortable and confident. People tell us they feel “in great hands” with our team, and that’s the standard we hold ourselves to, especially in that first week when you’re watching every little change in the mirror.
Usually normal
- Redness that fades over a few days
- Pinpoint bleeding the day of treatment
- Dryness, flaking, and a tight feeling days 3 to 7
Reach out to our team if you notice
- Spreading redness that keeps getting worse instead of calming down
- Increasing pain, significant swelling, or warmth that feels out of proportion
- Fever, drainage, or anything that looks like infection
- Prolonged bleeding that doesn’t settle
Quick local note: If you’re squeezing this treatment between errands along Blue Diamond Road or around shift work in Southwest Las Vegas, plan a low-heat, low-sweat 48 to 72 hours. That simple choice tends to keep recovery smoother.
And if you’re searching “microneedling near me” because you want a place that actually answers follow-up questions, we do. Call us, text us, or email us and we’ll walk you through what’s normal for your skin.
When you’ll see PRP / PRF microneedling results, and how we time your next steps
Some people notice an early “glow” once the first few days of redness and dryness calm down. The bigger changes, like texture and the look of old acne scarring, tend to show up more gradually as collagen builds. We’ve had clients tell us microneedling and RF microneedling “tremendously helped with scarring” and helped with acne scarring and clearer skin over time, especially when they stayed consistent.
Combining treatments can make sense, but timing matters. If you’re also doing things like chemical peels, laser treatments, or injectables, we’ll help you space them so your skin has time to recover and you’re not stacking irritation on irritation.
