Getting Micro Needling for the First Time? What to Expect (Microblading, Too)
By Bloom Salon & Med Spa | August 18, 2026
Serving Southwest Las Vegas and the Blue Diamond Road corridor, including Enterprise, Spring Valley, Paradise, Rhodes Ranch, Southern Highlands, and Henderson.
One thing I hear all the time is that people are tired of “hit and miss” results and they just want consistency. If you’re nervous about booking microblading (or you searched “micro needling” and ended up here), that hesitation is normal. Brow work is on your face, and it’s smart to ask questions before you commit.
Here’s the straight answer: microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow shading procedure that usually takes about 60 to 90 minutes. Discomfort is usually mild to moderate because I use topical numbing. You’ll see crisp strokes right away, then they soften as you heal over about 7 to 14 days. Plan on a 4 to 6 week touch-up to lock everything in. I’ll walk you through how to prep, what the appointment feels like, and how to handle healing in the hot, dry Las Vegas climate.
Prep for microblading: 48 hours that make a big difference
If you do one thing before your appointment, do this: show up with clean, makeup-free brows and give yourself a little buffer so you’re not rushing in stressed.
My go-to prep checklist:
- Avoid alcohol, aspirin, and high-dose fish oil for 24 to 48 hours (they can increase bleeding and make it harder for pigment to settle).
- Pause retinoids and chemical peels for 2 weeks around your brow area.
- Let me know about any recent sunburn, tanning, or active irritation on the forehead or brows.
- Bring a couple brow reference photos if you have them. I’ll still map your brows to your face, but photos help me understand your style.
And tell me what you want your brows to do for you. Some people want “I woke up like this.” Others want more definition because they’re busy, they work hospitality shifts, or they’re chasing kids and don’t want to fill brows in every morning. I’ll explain brow style options and answer questions until you feel steady about the plan.
Inside the 60–90 minute microblading session (no surprises)
When you arrive, I start by looking at your natural brow growth, your skin, and how your brows sit when your face is relaxed. Then we talk shape and finish. One of my favorite parts of this work is the consult itself. People often tell me they appreciate getting real options and honest feedback instead of being pushed into one look.
Step 1: Brow mapping and approval
I’ll map your brows so you can see the outline before any pigment goes in. This is where we adjust arch, thickness, and front shape. If you’ve had a past brow experience that felt “too much, ” this part usually helps. You get to approve the plan first.
Step 2: Numbing and the actual microblading
I use topical numbing, so most people describe it as mild to moderate discomfort. You might feel scratchy pressure, and some tenderness after. That soreness tends to fade over the next few days. During the service, I check in with you. If you need a short break, you get one.
Quick reality check: Your brows often look bolder right after the appointment. That’s normal. They soften as the top layer of skin heals over the next 7 to 14 days.
Step 3: Aftercare rundown before you leave
Before you walk out, I’ll go over aftercare in plain language. If you’re commuting in off I-215 or Blue Diamond Road, I love that this can be a simple in-and-out appointment, but don’t schedule something right after that will make you sweat. In Las Vegas heat, sweat and sun are the two things that can make healing harder.
“I met with Pratik who does permanent make-up… He explained me different types of eyebrows, described the process in detail and answered all my questions.”

Healing days 1–14: what your brows will look like (and what not to do)
Right after microblading, expect some redness and tenderness. Over the next several days, you’ll usually see light scabbing or peeling. That’s normal, and it’s the part where people get tempted to pick. Don’t. Let it flake off on its own so the pigment stays even.
The aftercare basics I want you to follow
- Keep brows dry and avoid heavy sweating while they’re actively healing. Plan on being careful for at least a week.
- Avoid pools, saunas, and long soaks for 2 weeks.
- Use the recommended ointment sparingly. More is not better.
- Skip strong skincare products on the forehead and brow area, especially acids and retinoids, while you heal.
Las Vegas summer tip: schedule early morning or evening, stay out of midday sun, and skip outdoor workouts for at least a week so heat and sweat don’t mess with your pigment.
Then comes the part that surprises first-timers: brows can look lighter as they heal. That doesn’t mean it “didn’t take.” It’s part of the skin settling. Your 4 to 6 week touch-up is where I refine any areas that healed softer and make sure both brows read balanced.
My “I’m nervous” advice for first-timers in Enterprise and Southwest Las Vegas
If you’re coming to see me for the first time, I want you to know this: you’re allowed to be picky about your brows. A lot of people who find us have tried other places and didn’t love the outcome. They stick around here because they want results that feel consistent, and they like being able to ask questions without feeling rushed.
A detail I think matters, especially in a family-owned spot like ours: I don’t treat brow work like a conveyor belt. I map, I explain, and I make sure you’re comfortable before we start. That’s also why you’ll hear people say they don’t let just anyone touch their eyebrows.
If you want to read about the day-to-day upside of waking up with brows already done, I wrote a separate post on the benefits of microblading for busy lives. Then, when you’re ready, call or email and tell me what you’re hoping your brows will do for you. I’ll help you choose a shape that looks like you, not like a trend.
Ready for a calm consult? Reach out with a quick description of your current brows (sparse, over-tweezed, uneven, or just tired of pencil) and the look you like. I’ll tell you honestly if microblading is the right move and what timeline to plan for.

A quick note on “micro needling” vs. microblading
If you typed “micro needling, ” you’re not alone. Microneedling is a skin treatment, and microblading is eyebrow work. They’re different services, different goals, different healing. If you’re trying to fix texture, acne marks, or overall skin tone, microneedling is usually the conversation. If you’re trying to stop drawing brows on every day, microblading is usually the conversation.
If you’re unsure which one fits, just ask. I’d rather point you to the right service than sell you on the wrong one.
