Chemical peel aftercare first 7 days guide in Las Vegas

If your peel day included a high-quality facial experience and relaxing touches like facial massage, keep that same gentle energy at home. Our single most important chemical peel aftercare rule for the first 24 to 72 hours is simple: protect your skin barrier. Keep your skin clean and hydrated, stay out of the Las Vegas sun, skip sweating and makeup, and do not use exfoliants until we tell you it is time.

In Southwest Las Vegas, the sun is strong and the desert air is dry, so peels can feel “tight” fast if you are not consistent with hydration and SPF. Below is a clear, day-by-day guide we use to help you heal well and hold onto that fresh, smooth look.

First 24 to 48 hours: the “do less, heal more” window

Right after a chemical peel, your skin is more reactive than usual. Redness, warmth, and mild sensitivity are common. The goal is to keep things calm so the peel can do its job.

Our go-to rules for the first 2 days: gentle cleanse, moisturize often, mineral SPF, no makeup, and no sweat.

What we generally recommend you do

  • Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild, non-scrubby cleanser. Pat dry. No washcloth friction.
  • Moisturize whenever you feel tightness. In our dry desert air, that might be more often than you expect.
  • Start sun protection immediately. Use a broad-spectrum mineral SPF 30+ and add physical shade, like a hat.
  • Keep showers warm, not hot. Hot water can increase redness and irritation.

What to skip for now

  • Makeup for at least the first 24 to 48 hours, longer if you are actively peeling or irritated.
  • Strenuous exercise and heavy sweating. Sweat plus heat tends to sting and can prolong redness.
  • Hot yoga, saunas, steam rooms, and very hot baths.
  • Active products like retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, benzoyl peroxide, and strong acne spot treatments unless we specifically cleared them for you.

Days 3 to 7: peeling is normal, picking is not

Most “peeling chemical peel” questions come up here, because this is often when flaking shows up. Some people barely peel. Others peel in sheets around the mouth, chin, or nose. The rule is the same either way: do not pick, rub, or force flakes off. That is how you end up with irritation and uneven color.

Keep your routine simple and comforting. A lot of our facial clients mention leaving our space feeling deeply relaxed and hydrated, and this week is about maintaining that “calm skin” feeling while your outer layer sheds on its own schedule.

Keep doing

  • Gentle cleanse 1 to 2 times daily.
  • Moisturizer as often as needed.
  • Mineral SPF 30+ every morning, and reapply if you are outside.

Keep avoiding

  • Picking or “helping” peeling skin lift.
  • Waxing and aggressive hair removal on treated areas.
  • Pools, hot tubs, and saunas for at least 7 to 14 days (timing depends on peel strength and how you are healing).

If you are a golfer or you have pool plans in the Enterprise and Southern Highlands area, plan your peel around that sun exposure. Desert sun plus fresh peel skin is the fastest way to lose your results.

Simple products that protect a chemical peel result in Las Vegas dryness

After a peel, you do not need a complicated lineup. You need a few “safe” basics you will actually use consistently. If you had a facial that left you feeling hydrated and glowing, this is how you protect that look while your skin settles.

Our short list of product types

  • Gentle cleanser: fragrance-light, non-exfoliating, and not “foaming to squeaky.”
  • Barrier moisturizer or ointment: think soothing and protective, not active and tingly.
  • Mineral SPF 30+: zinc oxide or titanium dioxide tends to be better tolerated on post-peel skin.

Habit that matters most: keep your hands off your face. No picking. No rubbing with a towel. No “quick scrub” because you see flakes.

If something feels off, we want to hear about it (and fast follow-ups are easy on Blue Diamond)
